The runner is a very versatile piece of fabric. On a lavishly set table, it can flatter the tablecloth beneath it and act as a counterpoint to the brilliance of your stem, silver, and flatware. On a sideboard, it adds depths and complexity to the presentation of your dishes. From a coffee table to a confitoire or writing desk, it adds an always-welcome touch of sophistication. Or Gold Runner is a magnificent example. The deep, rich, warm gold border emphasizes the delicate central motif of roses and grapevines intertwined in the style of 19th century French chinoiserie. The fabric is chenille—caterpillar in French—whose smooth, raised pile feels to the hand like a downy massage. Made of an easily cleaned and supple rayon-polyester blend, it is double-stitched all around for both durability and flexibility. The tasseled ends provide the weight to keep it flat on a table as well as eye-catching decorations in and of themselves. Though our Palladium Gold Runner looks European, we’re proud to say that it is produced entirely in the USA.
